David Katz was raised in a conservative Jewish home in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, David made his home in rural southwestern Virginia, where he came face to face with many outspoken believers in Yeshua (Jesus).

David's upbringing had led him to believe that Yeshua was the G-d of the Gentiles and certainly not someone that a Jewish person such as himself should or could believe in and remain Jewish. After several years of private investigation, David came to realize that Yeshua was thoroughly Jewish and that belief in Him was not only consistent with his own Jewish heritage, but it was one of the most Jewish things that he could ever do.

David’s wife Jessica was born and raised in India, where her family is involved in Christian ministry. Jessica came to the United States to earn her Master’s degree in Old Testament from Denver Seminary. In addition to teaching her children Hebrew and the Bible, she also rotates as a Torah portion expositor and reader at Shabbat services, as well as facilitating women’s chavurot (monthly fellowship and study meetings).

Shortly after David and Jessica were married, David became a lay-leader in a Messianic Jewish congregation while also beginning graduate level studies at a local seminary. David later transferred to Denver Seminary in order to complete his Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Messianic Judaism. Upon graduation from Denver Seminary, David received an appointment as Associate Messianic Rabbi, working alongside Rabbi Chaim Urbach.  He currently serves as Senior Rabbi at Congregation Yeshuat Tsion.
